So, Cereus

Epiphyllum oxypetalum, a climbing jungle cactus.

A strap-like leaf can be rooted after a day or two of drying to callous the cut edge.
Almost fully open. The fragrance is wonderful.

Meet My Sister

This is a seedling that I grew. I begged seeds from Mrs. Pointevint, fat pods in a bed of recent blooms. She gave them freely, "I tried that once, and they were ugly," she allowed. I think there were five plants that grew to maturity. This is the best one.

I gave it the garden name of "Meet My Sister" in honor of the way my son met his second wife. I do love a romantic story.

Night Bloomers

Vespertine -- opening or blooming in the evening.
The white Crinum has buds! The crinum is a night bloomer, smells like vanilla.

Not only does the crinum have buds, the night blooming cereus has one as well. Other vespertine flowers include species petunias, citrina daylilies, stocks and nicotiana and daturas.
