Rain to the South, Rain to the North, Agapanthus Blooming

Rain storms are moving towards the east above and below us. I delayed watering as long as I could. Things like this appreciate a drink to bloom properly. More tender plants are withering almost to the point of no return.

'Storm Cloud' Agapanthus

Succulents will go a long time without water,
but appreciate the occasional drink lest they start to drop leaves.

  2. Beautiful blues. I am watering and a hoping for some rain too. But that isn't really expected till Friday or Sat so out the hose comes every day.

  3. Stunning! And thanks for cooling me off this hot, humid Austin afternoon. I have three of the "regular" (light) blue variety but they're not blooming this season. Phooey.

  4. Wondeful agapanthus -- you've captured the color so nicely. I think blue is hard to do -- but yours are beautiful. Thanks!

  5. We're finally getting some rain. A lot of plants were just baking in the hot sun. Home you get a nice downpour.

  6. Lets hope your beautiful Storm Cloud agapanthus lives up to its name! Our thunderstorms are so fickle! A neighborhood a couple miles away got a drenching rain Saturday, but we got not a drop! 80% chance of rain today, and right now sun is shining brightly. I can't complain too much. We have actually had a wet year. But watering the garden is a chore in July!

  7. That agapanthus is a gorgeous color! Even though we've had showers two days in a row (and I can hear thunder rumbling in the distance now), many of my plants -- even succulents -- are looking parched and wilted in the afternoon heat. It has been an unusually warm, dry summer here. -Jean

  8. That is a beautiful flower and one I've never heard of. Hope you get lots of rain there! Our garden soil is like concrete, the plants are just barely surviving here. My Zebrine Banana seems very happy though.

  10. I love your Agapanthus. Here in MD we are getting much needed rain, finally. So I know how you feel. I'll send some your way. Great post.

  11. I would share rain with you. We got about 15" last week.

It seems we are either a desert or a flood.

I love that agapanthus. One can never have TOO much blue in the garden, IMHO, at least.

  12. Nell Jean, I adore the blue of that agapanthus - what a great color. We got the 'rain to the north' of you, but for some plants it was too little, too late. Hope it reaches you soon! Pam
